Financial assistance to graduate students in the Department
of Architecture and Interior Design is available through various
sources.
Assistantships
Typically, the department has 20 assistantships and one fee
waiver available to distribute among graduate students. Two
half-time assistantships are awarded which require the recipient
to work 18-20 hours a week and carry at least 10 graduate
credit hours but no more than 14 for each semester. Eighteen
modified graduate assistantships are awarded which require
the student to work an average of 8 hours a week and carry
at least 12 graduate credit hours with a maximum of 16 hours
for each semester. The department also awards one fee waiver
which carries no cash stipend, but waives the recipient’s
out-of-state surcharges, all instructional fees, one-half
of the general fee, one-half of the metro fee, and insurance
(if carried through Miami).
